Polymer Surface Polarity
Cray Valley HSC’s additives provide a unique way to incorporate functionality to otherwise inert polymers. Judicious selection of compatible or semi-compatible polymer additive backbones permits the use HSC’s across a wide range of polymer matrices. Pairing functionality with polymer additive backbones introduces a non-migratory permanent polarity shift to the bulk polymer, which permits the user to take advantage of chemistry within the vicinity of the articles surface. For example, modifying the inert surface in an overmolding process with a functional polymer additive can enhance the adhesive strength between itself and the adjoining surface. With the proper choice of additive, the polymer compounder can bring hydroxyl, maleic, amine or other functionality to the surface by modifying the bulk.
